Every project has an origin story. Ours didn’t begin in a boardroom or with investors. It started over a simple cup of coffee between two friends. cOne conversation changed everything.

One of us had recently attended a meeting with people working throughout the Irish film industry. The same message kept surfacing. Filmmakers, writers, producers, actors, crew members and creatives all shared one frustration.

They wanted an easier way to find one another.

They wanted somewhere to share ideas, build teams, discover opportunities and, most importantly, get productions off the ground without unnecessary barriers.

That conversation planted the seed that would eventually become LocalFilm.online.

Built by filmmakers, not corporations

Neither of us claimed to have all the answers.

We simply understood technology, appreciated the creative process and believed the film community deserved something better.

Instead of building another social network driven by algorithms, advertising and endless noise, we set out to create something different.

A genuine filmmaking community.

A place where filmmakers remain in control of their own journey.

A place where every county can develop its own local community while still being connected to the wider Irish and international industry.
