The who?
Hey, hey! It’s your boy Al, straight outta Dublin, Ireland. Born in the late ’70s in a tiny hospital that probably had, but, two nurses and a janitor back then. But hey, I made it out alive and kicking!
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Alan Joyce? The Qantas guy?!” Nah, man, I’m the infamous Al Joyce. The one who’s way cooler and doesn’t own a fleet of airplanes (yet) but I do have a pal who is a pilot.
So, what makes me tick, you ask? Well, first and foremost, I’m all about spirituality and connecting with people. But I’m not some new-agey hippie. I also love tinkering with servers and virtualisation, playing pc/xbox games, and doing some spirited driving (as in, “watch out, grandma! and wannabe boy racers.”).
I’m a tech nerd, too. I love experimenting with different operating systems like Debian/Ubuntu/Mint Linux, OSX/IOS, and all flavours of Windows even triple glazed, and I’m not afraid to admit it. And while I may not be a smoker, I do enjoy a good drink on occasion. Oh, and fast food? Sign me up! Chinese and Indian dishes? Yes, please! And don’t even get me started on hot, spicy foods.
But here’s the thing – I’m not just about living my best life. I’m also all about helping others, doing my part to make the world a better place, and learning new things as I go. I’m passionate about solar panels, battery backups, and electric cars and vehicles. And yeah, I’ll admit it, I’m a bit of a science geek when it comes to quantum physics, engineering, and open source software.
So there you have it, folks. I’m Al Joyce – spiritual guru, tech nerd, spicy food lover, and all-around cool dude. Let’s connect and see where this crazy journey takes us!
Don’t believe me about health?

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is

For as long a I can remember my first introduction to the internet happened in an Internet cafe down stars in later video rental on George’s street, Dublin Ireland. It was an underground bunker type place, with zombies of users transfixed by the glowing terminals. Each one typing away like proficient scientist, for myself and my buddies we were there with one vital mission to download the infamous “Jolly Roger cookbook” I don’t recall how we got it but we managed to take that bad boy home on a floppy disk. a single 3.5″ floppy. its was like magic. We had to as far as I recall ask the elders of the internet (the nerd bearded man behind the counter) how to make it happen and he obliged knowing that the three boys who stood before him were entering in to magnetic attraction with the seeking of knowledge
How have you happened about this place, were you at a loose end looking for a project to try or perhaps you like I are/were stuck on something and went in search of answers. The plan with this will be to document in part trials and tribulations of all of life adventures, but mostly a place to keep track of things I’ve learned and share with the community. Who needs a CV if you’ve made your own, network, managed your own sip for two premises and are hosting this very text and site on your own server sitting behind a firewall in your home.
Perhaps a little music while you read tune in to our sister site www.involvedfm.com for some tunes of the years gone by coupled with some fresh beats. https://www.involvedfm.com

I’ve been blessed and cursed – oh the conflicted mindset, been fortunate to have met many wonderful caring individuals on my journey through life so far some of whom you will hear reference to or better still see photos or videos with.
So to round things up this site is for anyone who would like to travel with me on a journey in to the unwritten, the unknown depths of my inner brain, it’s a vanity project to remind myself of some of my skills I possess and some I don’t, they will be more obvious. Patience is still something im working on. Some of my ideas Im definitely not going to be able to do all by myself and If you find yourself reading something on here that you can help with please reach out to me.
Here is really a place holder to have when I retire from my earthly bod, yes when I am long and gone. Maybe some will find the info useful maybe someone will get inspired to do something cool. Maybe before I head off in to the dusty universe I may have an opportunity to help you find what you need, perhaps in any of the following categories:
Consultancy, Networking installations including Ubiquity, Hp, setups, Video Production, Field Recording for TV / Film / Documentaries, Live Sound Production, Live Streaming, Linux, Web servers, OSX, Virtualisation, Hacking, Health & Fitness, Radio Station Management, loads of exciting projects.
